Job Overview:
The Lead Access Control Technician is responsible for executing various installation, maintenance, and repair tasks on a range of electronic and mechanical access control systems, as well as digital surveillance systems, applicable to both company-provided and existing client systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of access control and digital surveillance systems, demonstrating proficiency across all operational aspects for both company and client systems.
  • Guide and mentor emerging professionals in the Access Control and Surveillance field.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments and document all necessary elements, including but not limited to access control and surveillance systems, ensuring comprehensive photo and written records of the scope of work, and collaborating with other departments to identify their requirements.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, programming, and technical support of access control hardware, including maglocks, electric strikes, card readers, and related components.
  • Manage the installation, configuration, programming, and technical support of digital surveillance hardware, including cameras and video recorders.
  • Install low-voltage cabling for access control and surveillance systems as needed for complete installations.
  • Provide on-call support as scheduled.
  • Compile and maintain technical documentation and ensure full system database backups and current software/firmware updates on all systems.
  • Ensure that all databases, firmware, documentation, and customer-specific files are organized and maintained in the designated company repository.
  • Document all interactions and troubleshooting steps accurately in accordance with company standards.
  • Record all work hours and notes following company protocols.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare for field deployment, including participation in project handoff meetings.
  • Maintain open communication regarding ongoing issues and customer follow-ups.
  • Engage in continuous learning and support of technologies utilized in typical client environments.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in access control and surveillance, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in installing, programming, calibrating, testing, and repairing access control and surveillance systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and plans effectively.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate various tools safely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
