Job Summary:
Tacoma Community College is seeking a highly qualified Diagnostic Medical Sonography Professor to join our team. As a Professor, you will be responsible for preparing and teaching Sonography courses for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. This is a part-time faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and teach Sonography courses, labs, and fields.
- Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Assess student learning and provide feedback.
- Stay current with industry developments and advancements in Sonography.
Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of recent clinical experience as a sonographer.
- Successful completion of a Sonography program from an accredited school.
- Experience teaching at a community college and/or the freshman & sophomore levels is preferred.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment.
- Competence to teach a variety of courses in Sonography.
- Professional and courteous interactions with students, faculty, and staff.
- Dynamic, non-traditional delivery methods to teach students of widely varying levels of proficiency and from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
- Experience using computers as an instructional aid in and out of the classroom to enhance learning.
- An appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace.
- Excellent customer service skills; including establishing, building, and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.
- Ethics and integrity.
Benefits:
- Part-time faculty salary range is per credit hour starting at $1,182.22 to $1, Salary ranges are subject to any approved COLA's after initial placement.
- Lab credit hours are paid at 50% the credit hour rate.
- Professional Services hours are paid at a flat rate of $44.00-$44.00 per hour.
- Placement on the faculty salary schedule will commensurate with educational background and experience per the 2024 Faculty Negotiated Agreement.
- Part-time faculty may become eligible for healthcare and retirement benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half-time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education.
