Job Summary:
As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at CommonSpirit Health, you will be responsible for performing obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound examinations at a technical level in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. You will assume responsibility for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of ultrasound equipment.

Responsibilities:
Execute all varieties of obstetrical and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound exams presently offered by the department; perform all examinations in accordance with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards and department protocols; determine correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution; and participate (along with supervising Obstetrician/Gynecologist) in the final exam diagnosis.
Serve as a liaison between patients, interpreting physicians (Obstetrician/Gynecologist) and referring providers; explain testing procedures to patient; ensure that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician.
Utilize appropriate educational resources to maintain currency in diagnostic sonography, and assist in various educational services relating to both staff and patients; attend local and national professional meetings to stay abreast of new procedures, equipment, or information; participate in the formal training of ultrasound interns; evaluate new ultrasound products and equipment.
Perform incidental office duties as necessary to maintain the completeness of the patient record; ensure that patient data is entered correctly and that patients are billed appropriately.
Assist with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited training program in Cardiac and/or General diagnostic radiology (Certificate in sonography).
Recent completion of a twelve-month internship in diagnostic ultrasound or equivalent recent directly-related work experience.
Current registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Current certification by the American Association of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
Current Health Care Provider BLS certification.
