As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in our Interventional Radiology Unit, you will gain expertise in intricate medical histories, pioneering surgical techniques, pain management strategies, and holistic nutritional support.
- Delivering direct nursing care.
- Observing, documenting, and conveying patients' conditions as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care strategies.
- Observes, documents, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate.
- Monitors and records patient conditions and the effectiveness and timeliness of care and interventions.
- Evaluates, updates, and revises care plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Acts as the primary coordinator for all disciplines involved in well-coordinated patient care.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in line with approved nursing protocols.
- Executes physician and nursing orders as instructed.
- Assesses and coordinates discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
- Evaluates educational needs of patients and their families, considering cultural and other special concerns.
- Provides educational materials and teaching as appropriate.
- Validates and documents patient and family understanding of educational content.
- Maintains professional growth and development through ongoing education and clinical nursing study.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
Certifications:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) must be provided upon hire.
- Completion of ONS Chemo/Bio course within one year of employment if working in units where chemotherapy is administered.
- ACLS certification required upon hire or within one year for those in Adult/Combined Emergency Departments.
- PALS certification through AHA required upon hire or within one year for those in Emergency Departments.
- Attendance in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) required upon hire or within 24 months for those in Dedicated Trauma Centers.
- Attendance in Vascular Access Registered Nurse (VARN) program required, obtaining either Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification upon hire or within a year for those in PICC areas.
Work Environment:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.
Experience:
- Minimum one year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care roles.
- Minimum one year of current acute care RN experience and/or skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience required for SNF roles.
- Minimum one year of current acute care RN experience and/or rehabilitation experience required for rehab roles.
- Minimum one year of current acute care RN experience and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience required for ED roles.
- Licensed military RN experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
- Must be able to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
