Role Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for delivering direct patient care to inpatients. This role involves assessing patients and developing a personalized care plan that aligns with each patient's unique needs and objectives.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist oversees the activities related to care, treatment, and services provided by LPNs, RNTs, CNAs, and other team members on the assigned unit and shift.
This position requires effective communication with the interdisciplinary team and timely reporting of patient concerns and changes in condition to the supervisor and/or physician.
Qualifications
License or Certification:
- Current RN licensure in accordance with state regulations.
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
- CRRN certification is preferred.
Equipment Utilized:
- Standard office equipment including computer/laptop, telephone, copy/fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Demands:
- Visual acuity, speech recognition, and clarity of speech are essential.
- Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, including medical supplies and equipment, as well as transferring and repositioning patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested for tasks exceeding these minimum requirements.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with active listening capabilities. Proficiency in English is required.
- Ability to organize information, apply deductive reasoning, and demonstrate social perceptiveness, time management, and critical thinking.
- Capacity to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently without the need for continuous supervision.
Work Environment:
- Indoor, temperature-controlled, smoke-free environment.
- Handicapped accessible.
- May occasionally work under stressful conditions.
Professional Standards:
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Adherence to dress code, including wearing an ID badge.
- Compliance with Standards of Business Conduct is mandatory.
- Flexibility to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts as needed to meet operational demands.
- Willingness to work on religious and/or legal holidays as scheduled.
- May be required to perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
