Job Title: Quality Manager

Job Summary:

Rust Belt Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled Quality Manager to join our team. As a Quality Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing quality assurance programs to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports or leads all quality improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
  • Works with the Plant Operations leadership team to establish and maintain quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Manages the internal quality auditing process and is responsible for ensuring that all managers and process owners maintain their part of the quality management system.
  • Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Responsible for the Quality Management System to ensure continuous compliance with ISO standards and to maintain certification.
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of all work instructions and procedures and has final review responsibilities for these documents.
  • Provides inspection activity for product throughout the production cycle.
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Directs Quality team members engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Works with Purchasing to establish approved vendors and ensure quality of all purchased raw materials and parts for company use.
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.
  • Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Works with sales group to benchmark quality standards against competitive products.
  • Works with customers and sales group to investigate and resolve customer complaints and inquiries regarding quality.
  • Supports other areas of the organization as needed to maintain quality standards, production efficiency targets, and operating cost requirements.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Requirements:

  • College degree preferred in Ceramic Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years Quality Management experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read batch cards, and productivity data.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, area, circumference, volume, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, etc.
  • Good working experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experienced in working within an ERP system (i.e., Sage, Dynamics Business Central, etc.); experienced working with a CRM system.
  • Must be a high-caliber individual who enjoys working with people and as a part of a team. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills – must be able to persuade team members to adopt quality standards and teach initial and complex concepts to team members.
