Position Overview:

The role of the Controls Engineer involves engaging in electrical and controls engineering for extensive projects. The responsibilities encompass designing control systems from the ground up (including hardware, software, and networking), electrical panel design, power calculations, risk assessments, component selection, programming, and overseeing the installation and commissioning of control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design control systems from initial concepts to detailed specifications based on project needs.
  • Utilize drafting software (preferably AutoCAD) for design purposes.
  • Collaborate with other project disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Optimize panel locations to minimize voltage drop and enhance system efficiency.
  • Oversee vendor engagements to ensure compliance with safety and functionality standards.
  • Ensure designs adhere to local and governmental codes, as well as client specifications.
  • Generate technical risk assessment documents and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Design safety-critical components within control systems.
  • Implement redundant systems to enhance safety and reliability.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for system configuration and design, including operational descriptions, detailed design specifications, and maintenance plans.
  • Conduct system design calculations and analyses, including short circuit protection and load flow.
  • Possess knowledge of ride system design for attractions, if applicable.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours during installation and commissioning phases.

Qualifications:

  1. Highly organized, technically proficient, and effective in both oral and written communication.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (other degrees may be considered with relevant experience).
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in ASTM standards, the attractions industry, and safety engineering.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications is required.
  5. Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of performing tasks that require visual acuity, color perception, hearing, clear speech, manual dexterity, and physical strength for lifting, climbing, and operating equipment.

Work Environment:

This position requires presence at client locations five days a week, involving standard office settings, on-site environments, and various industrial or construction sites.
