GENERAL JOB FUNCTION

The Calibration Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the precision and reliability of various instruments and equipment. This position is responsible for the maintenance, testing, and calibration of a wide range of devices, ensuring that all instruments, meters, and testing apparatus are accurately calibrated to provide reliable readings. Adherence to the Policy and Quality Manual (QM), Calibration System Description (CSD), and internal regulations is essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calibrate a diverse array of testing instruments across multiple skill areas, including:
  • Electrical Equipment
  • Dimensional Equipment
  • Industrial/Mechanical Equipment
  • Temperature Measurement Devices
  • RF/Optical Equipment

Calibration Process

  • Conduct thorough pre-evaluations and inspections of all customer equipment, including visual checks, cleaning, and functional self-testing.
  • Ensure that maintenance, minor repairs, and calibration tasks are performed according to the established schedule, in line with customer specifications.
  • Communicate calibration status and updates to relevant personnel promptly; collaborate regularly with fellow technicians.
  • Analyze data, compute uncertainties, upload data, and generate reports.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards as per existing and approved quality procedures.
  • Ensure that environmental conditions are suitable for calibration work both in-house and at customer locations.
  • Verify that the calibration procedures in use are the most current and appropriate for the instruments being tested.
  • Safely transport instruments, reference standards, and materials to prevent any adverse effects on accuracy.
  • Notify the Quality Assurance Manager and relevant stakeholders of any lost, damaged, or stolen instruments during service.
  • Ensure accurate nomenclature and identification of instruments in the Calibration Management System (CMS).
  • Confirm that calibration certificates contain precise information and that all client-required details are documented.
  • Verify reported results, calibration procedures, approved functions, and reference standards for accuracy and reproducibility.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform standard maintenance and checks of company standards as assigned by the Lab Manager.
  • Work in-house or travel regionally to conduct calibration tasks as directed by the Lab Manager.
  • Engage in ongoing training in all aspects of MP Calibration Services and share knowledge and best practices with team members.
  • Collaborate with the department to set general goals and develop plans to achieve identified targets; recommend improvements to support current operations.
  • Adhere to safety precautions and quality standards while performing tasks, complying with company policies, and maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

The qualifications and experience necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position include:

Education:

  • Technical or related educational background, preferably in Calibration, Instrumentation, Electronics, or equivalent fields.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic technology or mechanical/dimensional technology.
  • Experience with basic instrumentation and manual tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with calibration procedures, uncertainty computation, and computer applications.
  • Attention to detail and quality, with basic problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools associated with ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Team-oriented, trustworthy, service-minded, and capable of managing priorities.
