Position: Electrical / Controls Engineer

Industry: Packaging and Industrial Machinery

Filamatic is in search of an experienced Electrical Engineer to collaborate with our engineering team in crafting innovative solutions that integrate multi-axis motion control systems, electromechanical systems, and pneumatic technologies for the production of liquid filling machinery tailored for various sectors including biotech, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and cannabis.

Our advanced liquid packaging systems are designed to handle a range of volumes from microliters to gallons, achieving operational speeds of up to 250 containers per minute. In this role, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive technical drawing packages, creating electrical schematics, designing panel layouts, and programming control software for new automated filling and capping machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering team, cross-functional departments, and clients throughout the design process of control systems and machinery that meet unique customer specifications.
  • Generate product concepts, detailed technical drawings, and accurate cost estimates.
  • Work in partnership with assembly and technician teams to identify and resolve issues during the project build phase.
  • Devise solutions to complex engineering challenges within the established project timelines.
  • Adhere to engineering standards for reusable design components and standard parts.
  • Engage with mechanical engineering, sales, manufacturing, assembly, and technical service teams.
  • Create performance calculations, wiring diagrams, flow charts, sequences of operations, BOMs, and specification sheets.
  • Lead design reviews and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Identify commercially available components for machinery.
  • Produce schematics, panel layouts, and machine software (PLC, HMI, Motion).
  • Troubleshoot and rectify control issues in both new and existing filling and capping machinery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Software, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient in multi-axis motion control systems, electromechanical systems, and pneumatic technologies.
  • Strong understanding of designing complex automated, multifunctional industrial machinery.
  • Familiarity with NEC standards and regulations.
  • Experience with PLC ladder logic, motion control, and servo systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Draftsight or similar 2D CAD software.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
