Job Summary

Penn Medicine is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical research, and educating future healthcare professionals. As a Surgical Services Associate, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical practice of a surgeon(s) in a busy academic department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient-related activities for outpatient visits and surgical procedures, including scheduling, triaging phone calls, and providing information to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with the management of surgical procedures, including obtaining procedural authorizations, preparing and processing surgical billing, and preparing correspondence.
  • Provide coverage for practice team members during absences and/or staffing shortages, and assist with patient relations and scheduling during outpatient office hours.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing and other evaluations, retrieve and process incoming medical records/images, and ensure scanning and physician review is completed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of medical office experience, or 2 years of customer service experience with related clinical office experience.
  • Prior customer service or insurance verification experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
