Technical Field Support Engineer

The Technical Field Support Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering on-site installation, maintenance, and repair services for advanced capital equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of experience with intricate machinery and systems, along with exceptional problem-solving abilities. This position entails considerable travel, with a significant portion of time dedicated to customer locations, ensuring optimal equipment functionality and addressing any technical challenges that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Setup:
  • Execute the installation and setup of capital equipment at client sites, ensuring compliance with operational specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to comprehend their requirements and customize the installation process accordingly.
  • Conduct thorough functional tests and calibrations to confirm the proper performance of equipment.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance on capital equipment to reduce downtime and prolong machinery lifespan.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, delivering effective solutions for repairing or replacing defective components.
  • Maintain comprehensive service records, documenting work performed, parts utilized, and recommendations for future service.
  • Client Support and Training:
  • Offer technical assistance to clients, addressing their inquiries and concerns regarding equipment operation and upkeep.
  • Educate client personnel on the proper usage and maintenance of the equipment, ensuring they are well-prepared for daily operations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients during on-site visits, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Technical Documentation:
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including service manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting protocols.
  • Provide constructive feedback to engineering and product development teams regarding equipment performance and client needs.
  • Travel and Coordination:
  • Plan and organize travel to client sites, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Manage travel schedules to balance on-site service requirements with minimal disruption to clients.
  • Prepare and submit travel and service reports promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A bachelor's degree is advantageous.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a field service technician, particularly with capital equipment.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems, with the capability to diagnose and repair complex machinery.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Outstanding troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficiency with service management software and tools.
  • Travel:

Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% of the time, including overnight stays, as required.
