Technical Field Support Technician

The Technical Field Support Technician plays a crucial role in delivering on-site installation, upkeep, and repair services for capital machinery. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience with intricate equipment and systems, alongside robust problem-solving capabilities. This position entails considerable travel, with a significant portion of time dedicated to customer locations, ensuring optimal equipment functionality and resolving any technical challenges that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Setup:
  • Execute the installation and setup of capital machinery at client sites, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to comprehend their needs and customize the installation process accordingly.
  • Conduct performance tests and calibrations to confirm proper machinery operation.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Carry out regular preventive maintenance on capital machinery to reduce downtime and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, providing effective solutions for repairing or replacing defective components.
  • Maintain comprehensive service records, detailing work completed, parts utilized, and recommendations for future maintenance.
  • Client Support and Training:
  • Offer technical assistance to clients, addressing their inquiries and concerns regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Educate client personnel on the correct usage and upkeep of the machinery, ensuring they are well-prepared for daily operations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients during on-site visits, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Technical Documentation:
  • Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation, including service manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting protocols.
  • Provide insights to engineering and product development teams regarding equipment performance and client requirements.
  • Travel and Coordination:
  • Organize and manage travel to client sites, ensuring prompt and efficient service delivery.
  • Balance travel schedules to meet on-site service demands while minimizing disruption to clients.
  • Prepare and submit travel and service reports promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A bachelor's degree is advantageous.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a field service technician, particularly with capital machinery.
  • Strong background in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems, with the capability to diagnose and repair complex equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficiency with service management software and tools.
  • Travel:

Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% of the time, including overnight stays, as required.
