Job OverviewPosition Summary/Key Responsibilities:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is expected to embody the mission and standards of conduct of University Hospitals. This professional will execute fundamental competencies during their orientation and deliver effective respiratory therapy with minimal oversight. Key responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical ventilation management
  • Administration of medicated aerosol treatments
  • Airway clearance interventions
  • Patient surveillance and monitoring
  • Oxygen and humidity therapy
  • Execution of specialized procedures (CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, patient transport, etc.)

General Requirements:

  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and standards.
  • For detailed duties and responsibilities, refer to departmental documentation provided during orientation.
  • Must comply with all regulations to securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies are in place to ensure appropriate PHI usage in the workplace.
Qualifications

Educational Background:

Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Required Credentials, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • Licensed to practice respiratory therapy in Ohio.

Preferred Qualifications:

This position is tailored for the special care nursery, laboring women, and infant resuscitation during deliveries. A minimum of 2 years of experience in the NICU and participation in deliveries is required. The schedule consists of daytime shifts, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. There is a requirement for 25% travel to the main campus to maintain clinical skills.

Incentives:

Employees working 35 hours or more will receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus: $3,000 payable after 90 days of employment, and $7,000 after one year, contingent on performance.
