Key Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting QC Chemists by managing routine Quality Control tasks to ensure adherence to schedules and laboratory maintenance. This position involves direct testing of raw materials and finished products as directed by supervisors, ensuring laboratory organization, cleanliness, and supply management to facilitate efficient QC operations.

Core Duties Include:

  1. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  2. Assisting in the development of laboratory testing methodologies.
  3. Assessing chemical and physical properties of in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  4. Authorizing the release of in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  5. Issuing status labels for products (White, Yellow, Orange, and Red).
  6. Investigating and reporting Out of Specification (OOS) results to the QC lead or Supervisor.
  7. Maintaining proficiency in all laboratory processes and protocols.
  8. Generating and submitting preliminary Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) for products.
  9. Conducting daily and/or monthly calibration of analytical instruments.
  10. Performing preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  11. Creating and managing a valid Master Reference Standard.
  12. Assisting in the verification of sanitizing solutions as required.
  13. Working under the direct supervision of the QC Lab Lead and/or QC Lab Supervisor.
  14. Managing supply inventory effectively.
  15. Maintaining records for requisitions, packaging, and CoAs as necessary.
  16. Overseeing daily product retention processes.
  17. Ensuring cleanliness and proper housekeeping within the laboratory.
  18. Participating in Production and Quality meetings by providing relevant information.
  19. Generating and distributing CoAs to customers as required.
  20. Assisting with documentation and recordkeeping tasks.

Qualifications and Educational Background:

A degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or an associate degree in a related scientific field, along with relevant laboratory experience.

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook).
  • Physical ability to lift, stand, or walk throughout the shift as required.

Work Environment:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician primarily operates within the laboratory setting, which can be fast-paced with frequent changes and interruptions. The role requires dexterity and care to perform necessary studies and operate office equipment. Additionally, the position may involve walking, climbing stairs, bending, and occasionally lifting materials up to fifty (50) pounds. The technician will be exposed to an industrial environment and must comply with the Company’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy, including the use of safety glasses, appropriate attire, and safety shoes. The role may also involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, limited dust, and chemicals, necessitating strict adherence to safety regulations. Long hours may be required to meet project deadlines and resolve issues.
