Key Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in supporting QC Chemists by managing routine Quality Control tasks to ensure compliance with operational schedules and laboratory maintenance. Responsibilities include conducting tests on raw materials and finished products as directed, maintaining laboratory organization, cleanliness, and inventory management, while ensuring the smooth functioning of the QC laboratory.

Essential Duties:

  1. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  2. Assist in the development of laboratory testing methodologies.
  3. Assess chemical and physical properties for in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  4. Authorize the release of in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  5. Label products with appropriate status indicators (White, Yellow, Orange, Red).
  6. Investigate and report Out of Specification (OOS) results to the QC lead or Supervisor.
  7. Maintain proficiency in all laboratory protocols and procedures.
  8. Prepare and submit preliminary Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) for products.
  9. Conduct daily and monthly calibrations of analytical instruments.
  10. Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  11. Establish and uphold valid Master Reference Standards.
  12. Assist in verifying sanitizing solutions as necessary.
  13. Work under the supervision of the QC Lab Lead and/or QC Lab Supervisor.
  14. Manage inventory of laboratory supplies.
  15. Keep records of requisitions, packaging, and CoAs as required.
  16. Oversee daily product retention processes.
  17. Ensure cleanliness and proper housekeeping within the laboratory.
  18. Participate in Production and Quality meetings, providing relevant information.
  19. Generate and distribute CoAs to clients as needed.
  20. Support all documentation and recordkeeping activities.

Qualifications and Educational Background:

A degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or an associate degree in a related scientific field, along with relevant laboratory experience.

  • Proficient in oral and written communication (English) with the ability to interpret specifications.

  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook).
  • Capable of lifting, standing, or walking for extended periods as required.

Work Environment:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician primarily operates within the laboratory environment, which can be dynamic and subject to frequent changes. The role necessitates dexterity for operating computer equipment and conducting laboratory studies. The position may involve physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, bending, and occasionally lifting materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. The technician will work in an industrial setting, adhering to the company's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy, which includes the use of safety glasses, appropriate clothing, and safety footwear. The role may also expose the technician to varying temperatures, noise, and chemicals, requiring strict compliance with safety protocols. Extended hours may be necessary to meet operational deadlines and resolve issues.
