Overview:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting QC Chemists by managing essential laboratory functions. This position involves executing routine Quality Control tasks to ensure adherence to schedules and maintain laboratory standards. Responsibilities include conducting tests on raw materials and finished products as directed, ensuring cleanliness and organization within the laboratory, and managing supplies to facilitate efficient QC operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  2. Assist in the development of laboratory testing methodologies.
  3. Assess chemical and physical properties for in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  4. Authorize the release of in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  5. Label products with appropriate status indicators (White, Yellow, Orange, Red).
  6. Investigate and report Out of Specification (OOS) results to the QC lead or Supervisor.
  7. Maintain proficiency in all laboratory processes and procedures.
  8. Generate and submit preliminary Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) for products.
  9. Conduct daily and monthly calibrations of analytical instruments.
  10. Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  11. Create and uphold valid Master Reference Standards.
  12. Assist in verifying sanitizing solutions as required.
  13. Work under the direct supervision of the QC Lab Lead and/or QC Lab Supervisor.
  14. Manage inventory of laboratory supplies.
  15. Document requisitions, packaging, and CoAs as necessary.
  16. Oversee daily product retention processes.
  17. Ensure cleanliness and proper housekeeping within the laboratory.
  18. Participate in Production and Quality meetings, providing necessary information.
  19. Generate and distribute CoAs to customers as required.
  20. Assist with documentation and recordkeeping tasks.

Qualifications:

Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field, or equivalent laboratory experience.

Work Environment:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician operates primarily within a laboratory setting, which can be fast-paced and subject to frequent changes. The role requires dexterity to operate computer systems and laboratory equipment, along with physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, bending, and occasionally lifting materials up to fifty (50) pounds. The position may involve exposure to various industrial conditions and necessitates compliance with the company's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy, including the use of safety glasses and appropriate attire. Long hours may be required to meet project deadlines and resolve operational issues.
