Key Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting QC Chemists by managing routine Quality Control tasks to ensure adherence to schedules and maintain laboratory standards. Responsibilities include direct testing of raw materials and finished products as directed by supervisors, ensuring laboratory cleanliness, organization, and inventory management to facilitate efficient QC operations.

Specific Duties Include:

  1. Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  2. Assisting in the development of laboratory testing methodologies.
  3. Assessing chemical and physical properties of in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  4. Authorizing the release of in-process, bulk, and finished products.
  5. Labeling products with appropriate status indicators (White, Yellow, Orange, Red).
  6. Investigating and reporting Out of Specification (OOS) results to the QC lead or Supervisor.
  7. Maintaining proficiency in all laboratory processes and procedures.
  8. Generating and submitting preliminary Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) for products.
  9. Conducting daily and/or monthly calibrations of analytical instruments.
  10. Performing preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  11. Creating and maintaining valid Master Reference Standards.
  12. Assisting in verifying sanitizing solutions as necessary.
  13. Working under the direct supervision of the QC Lab Lead and/or QC Lab Supervisor.
  14. Managing supply inventory effectively.
  15. Keeping accurate records for requisitions, packaging, and CoAs as required.
  16. Overseeing daily product retention.
  17. Ensuring cleanliness and proper housekeeping in the laboratory.
  18. Participating in Production/Quality meetings and providing relevant information.
  19. Generating and distributing CoAs to customers as required.
  20. Assisting with documentation and recordkeeping tasks.

Qualifications and Educational Background:

A degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or an associate degree in a related scientific field, along with relevant laboratory experience.

  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook).
  • Physical capability to lift, stand, or walk throughout the shift as needed.

Work Environment:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician primarily operates within a laboratory setting, which can be fast-paced with frequent changes and interruptions. The role requires dexterity for operating computer equipment and conducting laboratory studies. Physical activities may include walking, climbing stairs, bending, and occasionally lifting materials up to fifty (50) pounds. This position involves exposure to an industrial environment, necessitating compliance with the company's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy, including the use of safety glasses and appropriate attire. Additionally, the role may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and chemicals, requiring strict adherence to safety regulations. The Quality Control Laboratory Technician may need to work extended hours to meet operational demands.
