Position Overview

Edgewell is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to troubleshoot operational challenges within our facility. Collaborating with the operational team, you will enhance manufacturing efficiencies and support ongoing improvement initiatives. You will also manage specific projects to ensure their successful execution. Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to design and implement projects that align with business objectives. The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Leading multiple complex projects.
  • Hands-on execution of projects on the production floor.
  • Guiding and coordinating the efforts of Engineers, Technicians, or temporary staff.
  • Designing and executing electrical projects that adhere to rigorous scientific standards.
  • Providing technical insights to enhance manufacturing quality and operational efficiency.

This includes:

  • Introducing the latest, most efficient technologies wherever feasible.
  • Assisting in resolving technical production issues as they arise.
  • Streamlining existing machinery and processes to enhance quality and reduce costs.
  • Developing specifications for equipment modifications or additions.
  • Identifying project resource needs—time, budget, and personnel—and preparing funding requests.
  • Monitoring project expenditures against established budgets.
  • Modifying or creating PLC programs to adapt to evolving production requirements.
  • Training electronic technicians on new systems and controls.
  • Presenting findings in a clear and coherent manner that accurately reflects project outcomes.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of technical tools that support project development (automated data collection systems, statistical software, Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Expanding the knowledge base necessary for the role.
  • Demonstrating initiative, independent thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and multitasking abilities.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams by providing technical expertise.
  • Conducting all activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, along with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with major equipment relocations, including startup, debugging, and validation.
  • Proven ability to implement electrical control systems in a manufacturing context.
  • Practical programming skills in PLCs, networking, device communications, and discrete components.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of developing specifications, proposals, RFPs, and presentations.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software, MS Project, and MS Office.
  • Experience in writing and modifying PLC programs and guiding technicians in implementing changes.
  • Results-oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to lead teams to effectively resolve machinery issues.
  • Capability to analyze, design, plan, and manage equipment installations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with upgrading older control systems to modern PLCs.
  • Experience with Vision Systems and SCADA Systems, such as Wonderware/Ignition.
  • Curiosity and willingness to explore new challenges.
  • Proven project management skills from inception to completion.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving techniques.
  • Experience with Sensors and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Computer programming and macro writing skills.
  • Experience mentoring less experienced employees or students in technical areas.
