Position Title

FEA/Computational Engineer

  • Location: Charlottesville, VA
  • Security Clearance: Active Clearance or Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required
  • Salary: $95,000 - $140,000 Based on Experience and Education
  • Travel: 5%

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled FEA/Computational Engineer to support the National Ground Intelligence Center. This role offers the opportunity to advance your career while playing a vital role in the defense sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize modeling and simulation techniques with standard and advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to analyze material and armor performance against various threats.
  • Conduct analyses including modeling of penetrator degradation, residual energy, behind armor debris characterization, and damage assessment.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience may also be considered. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all qualifications.

  • Experience in computational analysis, particularly in FEA and/or CFD related to fragmentation, penetration, armor systems, and threat evaluation.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., ProE or SolidWorks).
  • Proficient in CTH or similar hydrocode.
  • Experience in mesh generation and complex geometry development at both component and system levels.
  • Experience in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of military systems, live-fire testing, and verification and validation methodologies.
