Position Title

FEA/Computational Engineer

  • Location: Charlottesville, VA

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled FEA/Computational Engineer to support the National Ground Intelligence Center. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical defense initiatives while advancing your career within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced modeling and simulation techniques, including finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to evaluate material and armor performance against various threats.
  • Conduct analyses that may involve modeling penetrator degradation, assessing residual energy, and characterizing behind armor debris and component damage.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience may also be considered. Not all qualifications are mandatory; candidates with partial qualifications are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience in computational analysis, particularly in FEA and/or CFD related to fragmentation, penetration, armor systems, and threat characterization.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., ProE or SolidWorks).
  • Proficiency with CTH or similar hydrocode.
  • Experience in mesh generation and the development of complex geometries.
  • Experience in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of military systems, live-fire testing, and validation techniques.
