Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the Director of PhD Student Resources in the Office of Graduate Affairs at Boston University. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing initiatives tailored to PhD students, including the PhD Progression program and the Vitamin PhD podcast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct professional development initiatives and resources for PhD students, including the PhD Progression initiative and the Vitamin PhD podcast.
  • Identify areas for development of new and expanded programs to better support PhD student development.
  • Lead workshops and other types of events specific to the PhD audience, working collaboratively with other Director colleagues to host joint professional development events as appropriate.
  • Directly supervise student employees fulfilling data analysis and communications needs, and student podcast interns.
  • Design assessment tools and analyze data to improve professional development programs, collecting and analyzing data in support of the development of PhD student-related policy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Student Support on communications related to PhD professional development, website content, and social media, as well as targeted emails to students and faculty mentors.
  • Contribute to and lead special projects in Graduate Affairs identified by the Assistant Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development or the Associate Provost for Graduate Affairs, including developing new resources or initiatives, or conducting high-level data collection or reporting for University leaders.
Requirements
  • PhD degree, 3-5 years of experience (postdoctoral experience may count towards years of professional experience).
  • Advanced communication and writing skills.
  • Cover letter required.
