Position Overview

Summary

Great Beginnings Early Learning Center is a nurturing and family-oriented Christian preschool. We are in search of empathetic and skilled educators to enhance our educational environment.

The Lead Teacher plays a crucial role in crafting a comprehensive educational framework utilizing the A Beka Book curriculum alongside supplementary resources. This position involves orchestrating and executing the curriculum while overseeing the daily operations of the classroom. A deep understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental stages is essential to foster a secure and engaging classroom atmosphere where children can thrive.

The Lead Teacher must excel in communication with children, parents, and colleagues to effectively address the needs of the children, guide support staff, and resolve any parental inquiries. Additionally, the Lead Teacher is responsible for documenting classroom activities and child-related concerns.

The role includes engaging with parents, conducting developmental assessments, and ensuring a safe educational setting that promotes learning, play, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and implement educational programs through developmentally appropriate activities and early learning standards.
  • Model effective teaching practices and support the success of the teaching team.
  • Plan and execute individual and group activities that promote social, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Maintain open communication with parents via progress reports, informal discussions, and conferences.
  • Adhere to all center policies and relevant state licensing standards.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe classroom environment, including hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Supervise assistants and volunteers to ensure compliance with planned activities and safety standards.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in child care.
  • Associate's Degree in early childhood education or a related field with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE or a child-related discipline.
  • Or CDA certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • High energy and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, children, and parents.
  • A solid understanding of child development principles.
  • Current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Successful completion of a background check and health screening.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons effectively.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to walk frequently, use hands and fingers, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the A Beka Book Christian Curriculum.
  • Experience using the Bright Wheel App.
  • MAT Certification is a plus.
