Position Summary
The Project Engineer role is integral to supporting the design/build construction estimating process and assisting our design team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn and acquire knowledge in design/build and commercial construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preconstruction and project management teams at McFarland Construction.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, McFarland personnel, teaming partners, suppliers, A/E firms, and other industry/community participants.
- Facilitate learning and development in pre-construction and project administration functions.
- Assist and support the McFarland Construction Team as required.
- Development of bid packages.
- Creation of budgets for general conditions and/or self-perform activities.
- Conduct constructability analyses.
- Manage construction field operations reporting (OCR, JHA, schedules, etc.).
- Plan logistics effectively.
- Organize project and LEED planning.
- Schedule management.
- Analyze, develop, and review project scopes.
- Oversee subcontractor/supplier buyout processes.
- Coordinate subcontractor solicitation and development.
- Track sustainability initiatives.
- Monitor and manage budgets.
- Oversee project closeout procedures.
- Coordinate and manage construction field operations.
- Prepare internal and external reports.
- Provide general support for all aspects of project delivery.
- Manage LEED documentation processes.
- Oversee permit management.
- Handle project documentation management.
- Manage project invoicing.
- Conduct project reporting.
- Prepare OCR, JHA, and other field operation-related reports.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in construction.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong time management skills with effective prioritization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor with a strong sense of urgency.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Proficiency in Procore is preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance; proactive and motivated self-starter.
- Familiarity with conferencing systems.
- Adaptability and capability to manage change efficiently.
