Position Objective: Delivery Drivers play a crucial role in the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products arrive at their destinations on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and fostering lasting relationships with our clients.

Key Responsibilities: The Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products to clients safely and punctually, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role involves professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring inquiries are addressed accurately and promptly. The Driver functions as a collaborative team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting all necessary safety inspections (i.e., pre/post trip) of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensuring that the vehicle meets company safety standards and taking appropriate actions as needed.
  • Reporting any safety concerns and/or required repairs. Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies.
  • Promptly reporting all safety hazards. Inspecting the trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Performing inventory checks of items and verifying customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Accurately completing all required paperwork associated with freight in a legible manner.
  • Positioning the tractor at the loading dock and attaching the preloaded trailer as necessary.
  • Driving to and delivering customer orders according to the established delivery schedule.
  • Unloading products from the trailer and transporting them to designated customer storage areas.
  • Conducting damage control checks on items, scanning, and notifying the supervisor about order removals per company policy.
  • Confirming delivery of items with customers and obtaining necessary signatures. Collecting payments (cash or checks) when required. Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing the trailer doors.
  • Ensuring that the tractor, trailer, and freight are securely locked and/or always safeguarded.
  • Unloading damaged goods and customer returns, bringing them to the driver check-in, and completing the necessary paperwork. Removing all equipment, materials, and trash from trailers as required.
  • Maintaining a daily record of service hours and logging them in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keeping trailers clear and clean as required. At the end of the shift, securing all equipment and completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Executing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent

Valid CDL-A License

Minimum of 1 year experience in operating tractor trailers is essential

Compliance with all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)

Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years

Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check

Passing of road test

Possession of a valid current DOT Health Card and/or ability to secure a new DOT Health Card

Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheelers, lift gates, and/or other tools to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; products generally range from 10-35 pounds and can reach up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location.
