Position Overview:
As a Senior Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the workflow and staff assignments within the laboratory. You will provide constructive feedback on departmental policies and procedures to the management team.
In the absence of the manager/director, you will serve as a key resource for other laboratory professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily operations of the laboratory to ensure all needs are met efficiently.
- Manage staffing schedules and provide performance feedback to the management team.
- Lead special projects focused on quality improvement and performance metrics.
- Train and mentor laboratory staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Act as a primary contact for departmental inquiries and concerns.
- Process and analyze laboratory samples promptly while adhering to identification protocols.
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments according to established guidelines.
- Implement quality control measures across all technical areas and follow safety protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomy procedures as required.
- Document findings accurately and communicate results to healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to resolve issues and interpret laboratory results.
- Perform routine laboratory testing within designated areas.
- Identify inconsistencies in testing and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient and specimen records.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and departmental policies.
- Engage professionally with patients, families, and staff, demonstrating a commitment to their needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- WV Licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) within 90 days of hire.
- A minimum of five years of experience as a medical technologist.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT.
Physical and Working Environment:
This role requires physical stamina, including lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods. The work environment may involve exposure to strong odors and potential health hazards.

- Ability to multitask and manage stressful situations effectively.
- Strong communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate with diverse staff and patients.
- Basic computer proficiency.
