Job Summary

The Educational Developer for Inclusion and Belonging will play a pivotal role in Radford University's Realizing Inclusive Student Excellence (RISE) Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The RISE QEP aims to enhance student performance and increase academic and campus belonging among students, particularly through the RISE Faculty Institute.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Faculty Institute, a series of workshops designed to help faculty revise courses to incorporate active learning and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Design and implement workshops and conduct consultations on inclusion and belonging, participating in CITL's general faculty development initiatives.
  • Participate in the assessment of the program with other campus partners.
Requirements
  • A demonstrated commitment to furthering social justice, community, belonging, and equitable access in higher education.
  • Strong workshop/training facilitation skills.
  • Strong skills and knowledge base for training and consulting with a broad range of instructors on pedagogical challenges and strategies related to inclusion and diversity.
  • Expertise in literature on active learning and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Skills and knowledge base for instructional design both in-person and online.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated skills managing projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Experience facilitating a community of practice, faculty learning community, or other similar learning group.
  • A record of successful teaching in a university or college setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D.
  • Experience working with learning management systems, particularly D2L.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Planning, implementing, or leading extended faculty development programming at the university level.
  • Facilitating learning across multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, online).
  • Teaching and research directly related to issues of inclusivity, accessibility, and/or equity.
