Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the Davis College of Business and Economics. As the chief academic officer, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction for the college's growth, foster high-quality academic programs, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the faculty and staff in developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate educational programs of the highest quality, consistent with the college's mission.
  • Work with faculty to articulate the college's vision and define the teaching, professional contribution, and service missions of the college.
  • Advance programmatic excellence by maintaining accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
  • Encourage student success by creating an inclusive education environment that supports belonging, retention, graduation, and career development.
  • Promote the overall excellence and welfare of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Team and the Deans Council to meet the university's mission and strategic goals.
  • Lead the college in obtaining and managing fiscal, human, and physical resources necessary to meet the college's vision and curricular goals.
  • Develop a donor base and external fundraising strategies.
  • Represent the college to external and internal constituencies.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum and program development, student recruitment and retention, faculty recruitment and development, and/or fiscal management.
  • Experience in supporting AACSB-accredited programs.
  • Success in generating external funding and developing positive working relationships with businesses, donors, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and in teams to meet academic objectives.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, professional contributions, and service befitting a tenured professor at the Commonwealth of Virginia.
