Role Overview:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for implementing care plans, administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing clinical treatments. This role involves documenting patient care, monitoring and communicating patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families. The nurse assists patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility. Collaboration across disciplines is essential for coordinating patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual and psychosocial needs. The nurse also evaluates the educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Acting as an advocate for the patient's physical and emotional well-being is a critical aspect of this role.

Educational Requirements:

A graduate of an accredited registered nursing program is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred.

Skills Required:

The position requires strong critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently. Candidates must thrive in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately to challenges.

Certifications Needed:

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of employment. AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required within 6 months of hire. Handle With Care certification is preferred within 90 days of hire.

Licensure:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or from a Compact State is mandatory.
