Job Title: Grocery Manager

At Hunger Mountain Cooperative Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Grocery Department, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, including employees, vendors, and shoppers.
  • Supervision: Hire, train, and evaluate staff, supervise department staff, and plan and facilitate regular departmental meetings.
  • Merchandising: Plan and maintain attractive, fully stocked, faced, and rotated retail sales sections of the store, provide stocking priorities to stockers, and attend Promotions Team meetings.
  • Purchasing: Support the Grocery Lead Buyer, Bulk Co-Buyers, and Meat & Fish Buyer in negotiating with suppliers, evaluating vendors, and providing pricing guidelines.
  • Operations: Communicate with staff, develop the Grocery Department budget, complete daily paperwork, and maintain all work areas in a clean, tidy, safe, and organized condition.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Excellent communication skills, two plus years supervisory experience in a retail grocery setting, ability to work well with others, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of natural foods industry and trends, finance/computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to present and analyze Grocery Department performance data.
