Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician II

Colorado State University is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician II to join our team in the Small Animal Internal Medicine department. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care, perform diagnostic procedures, and assist with advanced endoscopic procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care and perform minor medical and surgical techniques on veterinary patients
  • Assist with advanced endoscopic procedures, including laparoscopy, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, and cystoscopy
  • Monitor patients in the medical wards and anticipate or take measures to prevent problems or complications
  • Assist in the performance of fiber-optic procedures and operate biopsy instruments to obtain biopsy samples
  • Coordinate anesthesia, equipment, and supplies for the small animal medicine department
  • Receive phone calls from clients, provide information, and schedule appointments
  • Interview clients, obtain history and basic physical exam parameters, and follow up with clients regarding concerns about patients or care plans
  • Teach PVM students, interns, and newer technicians in the technical aspects of veterinary medicine
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in veterinary/animal health technology
  • Registered as a Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Provisional Veterinary Technician (PVT) through the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) by the time of hire
  • Credentialed in the State of Colorado or other eligible state determined by CACVT
  • At least one year working as a veterinary technician
  • Experience in IV catheter placement, venipuncture, cystocentesis, endoscopy, teaching, computer skills, scheduling appointments, and answering client questions

  • Knowledge of proper animal restraint, including fear-free technique
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and foster a healthy working environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is always changing
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Strong attention to detail
