Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Veterinary Technician II to join our team at the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support on our client helpline and as an oncology float, working closely with our clinicians, students, and clients to provide exceptional care to animals undergoing cancer treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage phone calls and emails received by the Flint Animal Cancer Center's technician line, providing guidance and support to clients and clinicians.
  • Provide primary and supportive nursing care to animal cancer patients, including admission and history taking, physical exams, monitoring, and administration of medications.
  • Collect blood, urine, fecal, bone marrow, and tissue samples for analysis, and maintain smooth working relations with all VTH sections.
  • Coordinate the various modalities of therapy required to assure efficient, effective, and compassionate patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to provide exceptional care to animals and their owners, and to advance the mission of the Flint Animal Cancer Center.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in veterinary/animal health technology.
  • Two years of primary veterinary experience.
  • Registered as a Veterinary Technician (VT) or Provisional Veterinary Technician (PVT) through the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent technical skills, including IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic monitoring.
  • Knowledge of anesthetic drugs and proper animal restraint, including fear-free technique.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, maintain a positive attitude, and foster a healthy working environment.
