An exceptional role has emerged for a Field Service Engineer – Control. In this position, you will play a crucial role in the maintenance and support of propulsion control systems provided by Kongsberg Maritime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both preventative and corrective maintenance on Kongsberg control systems.
  • Interpret technical drawings and control system architectures effectively.
  • Utilize multimeters and software tools to troubleshoot communication or loop errors.
  • Possess a solid understanding of Power Management Systems, including generators and governor control functionalities.
  • Work with AC/DC electrical motors.
  • Modify or enhance control logic as necessary.
  • Familiarity with various communication protocols such as CAN, 232, 422, 485, TCP/IP, etc.
  • Timely completion and submission of timesheets and expense reports.
  • Take ownership of assigned cases and service trips.
  • Propose enhancements to products and communicate needs to the Service Manager or product department.
  • Advise customers on available upgrades and new products during onboard visits.
  • Implement actions to mitigate errors in our delivery and after-sales services.
  • Assist Aftermarket Sales with aftersales quotations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry/military training.
  • Understanding of general Electrical/Electronic control system principles, including PID controllers and communication protocols.
  • Ability to produce and interpret technical documentation accurately.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting low voltage electrical components and using multimeters.
  • Experience with PLC/SCADA systems and their architecture is highly valued.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in English.
  • Possess a valid Passport.
  • Authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice, including after hours, weekends, and holidays, for extended periods both locally and internationally.
