Job Title: Paralegal - Litigation

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal - Litigation to join our team at Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing litigation support services, including organizing and preparing client matter information, assisting with trial preparation, and performing various duties specific to litigation support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electronically file pleadings in State and Federal court, including simple and complex documents.
  • Draft and prepare documents for electronic filing, including notices of deposition, notices of filing, pro hac vice motions, affidavits in support, and basic orders.
  • Prepare domestic and foreign subpoenas and supporting documents, including an understanding of the Uniform Deposition and Discovery Act and the Long Arm Statute for service of process.
  • Prepare Summonses and Civil Cover Sheets for initiating an action in Federal Court, as well as Summonses for initiating an action in State Court.
  • Prepare Open Records Requests and FOIA requests.
  • Familiarity with litigation support software, including review and coding of documents relating to discovery requests and a basic understanding of privilege documents.
  • Basic understanding of Appellate rules, formatting, and preparation of citations to the record on appeal for appellate briefs.
  • Preparation of deposition summaries and document indices, where necessary.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Kentucky Rules of Civil Procedure that apply to specific paralegal functions.
  • Maintain accurate time entry for all billable time.
  • Collaborate with other team members to support the SBU needs.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance with clients, attorneys, judges, and anyone associated with a specific client matter.
  • Follow all personnel policies and procedures of the Firm.
  • Maintain an 8:30 – 5:00 daily schedule Monday through Friday, unless an alternate schedule is pre-approved.

Requirements:

  • Must have a paralegal degree, paralegal certificate, or paralegal experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional writing and legal drafting skills.
  • Some travel may be required, including the possibility of overnight stays.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with the team and clients.
  • Willingness to own mistakes and work towards progress.
