Scope of Work:

As an HR Intern focusing on administrative support, you will play a crucial role in managing paperwork, improving system efficiencies, and supporting the employee life cycle. This position is essential to ensuring smooth HR operations and enhancing the overall efficiency of the HR department.

Reports To: Human Resource Manager

Learning Objectives:

  • Intern will learn how to effectively manage HR administrative tasks and improve system efficiencies.
  • Intern will gain experience in coordinating various stages of the employee life cycle.
  • Intern will develop skills in maintaining accurate and confidential employee records.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of HR documents, such as employment contracts, onboarding materials, and termination paperwork.
  • Consult with the HQ team on maintaining and updating employee records in our HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support the HR team in streamlining administrative processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Help coordinate the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and responding to employee inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

Position Details:

  • Internships start with a required in-person orientation at the IRC Baltimore office.
  • Regular weekly hours start the week of January 14th, 2025, and will continue through April 11th, total weeks.
  • Internships require a minimum of 15 hours per week for 13 weeks.
  • Interns should be able to come to the office at least 1 day per week.
  • Interns will be issued an IRC laptop for the duration of the internship.
  • Internships with the IRC in Baltimore are unpaid. University credit may be arranged.
  • Spring 2025 interns are eligible for per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15 per day to offset the costs of food and travel of the internship.
