Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at Northstar Behavioral Health Network. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals battling substance use disorders and other mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date on client activities and provide support as needed.
  • Transport clients to appointments, intake, and discharge.
  • Ensure client safety and well-being during transportation.
  • Plan work tasks to align with programming requirements.
  • Set priorities for monitoring clients, making house rounds, and documentation.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of dependability.
  • Stay informed about program philosophy, policies, and procedures, including 245G requirements and client rights.
  • Assist counselors with intake, admission, and orientation procedures.
  • Encourage clients to achieve their goals through positive role modeling.
  • Participate in client recreational activities and provide support.
  • Serve as a resource for clients, providing information about community services and opportunities.
  • Document client information accurately and complete other forms as needed.
  • Objectively document client-related topics in client files and communication logs.
  • Exhibit diplomacy and sensitivity towards staff and client feelings, needs, values, and opinions.
  • Complete clerical tasks, such as faxing, copying, and updating spreadsheets.
  • Assist with food preparation and household cleaning duties as needed.
  • Adhere to attendance and absence policies.
  • Report for work punctually and participate in shift change reports.
  • Participate in rotational and off-shift schedules, including holiday rotations, as applicable.
  • Be available to work additional hours or off-shifts as needed.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Knowledge of MN Statutes related to providing services for the population NBHN serves, and a willingness to learn and understand regulations.
  • Understand and follow NBH's Drug and Alcohol Policy.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite programs.
