Position: Program Facilitator

Hours: Up to 20 hours/week, no benefits

The Program Facilitator will lead recreational, educational, and enrichment activities at an LA's BEST program site. This role reports directly to the Site Coordinator.

About LA's BEST

LA's BEST – Better Educated Students for Tomorrow – is a highly regarded after-school education, enrichment, and recreation initiative that serves over 27,000 children facing significant challenges and limited resources across the City of Los Angeles. The LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program offers a secure environment for children aged 5 to 12 at 180 LAUSD elementary school locations daily during the essential hours after school, at no cost to families. Established in 1988, LA's BEST is a collaborative effort involving the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District, and the private sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and implement activities for groups of 20 children.
  • Consult with the Site Coordinator regarding necessary supplies, materials, and support for activities.
  • Oversee all participants to maintain a safe and organized program environment.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special projects and events.
  • Participate in staff development workshops.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Los Angeles Unified School District staff, parents, and community members.
  • Strong communication skills and sensitivity to diverse perspectives.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.

Additional Requirements

  • Proficiency in a language other than English is preferred.
  • Eligibility for LAUSD/LA's BEST assignments, including proof of high school equivalency and completion of necessary background checks.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Availability for off-site meetings, training sessions, and events.
