Position Overview

This role is accountable for leading the department, overseeing daily operations, managing and nurturing departmental personnel, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient care. The nursing process will be utilized to guarantee the provision of high-quality care to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of a patient care department, including staffing forecasts, departmental calls, and continuity of care planning.
  • Serve in a charge nurse capacity and provide direct patient care as necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians, management team members, business partners, and customers to achieve strategic initiatives and organizational objectives.
  • Engage in a systematic, interdisciplinary evaluation of programs, process enhancements, and desired client-centered outcomes.
  • Consider the diverse needs of each patient throughout their care continuum, ensuring the highest service levels according to established standards.
  • Ensure effective scheduling and staffing, recruit and develop staff, provide performance feedback, and contribute to performance reviews.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards.
  • Promote safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while complying with all organizational policies and budgetary guidelines.
  • Encourage individual professional growth by meeting mandatory and continuing education requirements and supporting departmental goals.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited institution is required.

Licenses/Certifications: A current State of Texas nursing license or a temporary/compact license is necessary. Basic Life Support certification is required, and professional certification in a clinical area or management is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three years in a clinical practice area, with at least one year in a supervisory or management role is essential. For Clinical Manager II positions, an additional two years of supervisory or management experience is required.
