Nursing Unit Operations Manager

Responsible for overseeing the management of a substantial unit or several units that deliver outpatient services. Ensures that the team provides exceptional, accessible, and cost-efficient care, focusing on patient-centered services that adhere to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations. Develops and upholds clinical practice standards, budgetary guidelines, and staff training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs the daily operations of one or more units, ensuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Collaborates closely with the physician team leader, department head, and nursing manager to enhance patient services and streamline departmental operations.
- Establishes and maintains standards for patient care and quality service to fulfill the expectations of members and internal stakeholders.
- Acts as an advocate for patients, addressing and resolving care-related concerns.
- Identifies and assesses processes to enhance systems and improve patient care outcomes across the care continuum.
- Assists in formulating and tracking budgets and resource distribution, while monitoring financial performance to propose strategies for cost reduction and quality enhancement.
- Supports the management of human resources, labor relations, employee safety, and risk management challenges.
- Determines optimal staffing levels for the department and develops processes for recruitment, training, and competency assessment of all staff members.
- Facilitates ongoing professional development for staff. Implements and oversees departmental policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- HealthEcareers - Client reserves the right to periodically review and modify job descriptions and may change positions from salaried to hourly status as necessary.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role is required.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. A Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related health field is preferred, or four (4) years of nursing experience may be considered. A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification.
- Familiarity with the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other pertinent regulations.
- Ability to thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Prior nursing experience in outpatient settings is advantageous.
- Clinical specialization in a relevant area of practice is preferred.
