Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Retina Specialists of San Antonio P. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our doctors in delivering top-notch medical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history, vision testing, and eye pressure checks.
  • Perform OCT and VF testing to aid in accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Assist patients with their needs and provide support during their visits.
  • Collaborate with doctors to ensure seamless exam procedures and accurate data entry into our electronic medical records system.
  • Process prescriptions electronically or manually, ensuring timely and accurate communication with patients and referring physicians.
  • Communicate critical patient information to relevant departments to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Prepare and send correspondence to referring physicians, maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Develop and deliver patient education materials to promote informed decision-making and optimal eye health.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, with expertise in OCT and VF testing.
  • Previous experience in performing fundus photography and fluorescein angiography is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex medical information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Patience and understanding when interacting with elderly patients or those requiring additional support.
