Job Overview

We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of an Ophthalmic Support Specialist. Previous experience in this field is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient evaluations (gather medical history, assess vision, measure eye pressures, etc.)
  • Perform OCT and visual field testing
  • Provide assistance to patients as needed
  • Support physicians during procedures and document examination details in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Process prescriptions through electronic or manual methods
  • Relay important patient information to relevant departments
  • Draft correspondence for referring physicians
  • Deliver patient education materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an ophthalmic technician, including OCT and visual field testing
  • Familiarity with performing fundus photography and fluorescein angiography is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to establish rapport with patients
  • Excellent organizational capabilities
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Demonstrated patience with elderly patients and those requiring additional support
