Role Summary:

This exempt position operates within a collaborative team environment and reports directly to the Engineering Manager in Ogden. The Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee all facets of electrical engineering at the facility, taking ownership of the plant's electrical distribution systems. This role is crucial for project engineering and management within the plant.

Electrical Engineering:

  • Ensure the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the plant's electrical systems and maintenance programs.
  • Maintain comprehensive electrical data, documentation, and schematics.
  • Develop and implement electrical engineering solutions to address challenges and support the company's sustainability and energy reduction initiatives.
  • Manage long-term strategies for electrical infrastructure.
  • Establish electrical standards and implement management systems to uphold these standards.
  • Design electrical and control components for engineering projects.
  • Monitor energy consumption and costs, implementing strategies to reduce expenses.
  • Collaborate closely with the site Controls System Team.

Project Engineering:

  • Assist the Engineering Manager in formulating annual capital budgets.
  • Prepare and submit capital appropriation requests, including financial analyses.
  • Draft scopes of work and engineering specifications for the RFQ process.
  • Develop and manage engineering and construction contracts for capital projects.
  • Oversee construction contractors and ensure quality control of completed work.
  • Implement construction strategies that align with the plant's production schedules.
  • Actively engage in the commissioning of engineering projects.
  • Manage multiple capital projects, ensuring adherence to critical timelines and budgetary constraints.

Maintenance Support:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the reliability of plant power and control systems.
  • Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting production equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to implement process improvements as directed.
  • Support Reliable Asset Management objectives in conjunction with the Maintenance Department.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering License is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting.
  • Preference for candidates with expertise in:
    • Electrical distribution systems from 480V to 138 kV, including substations and motor control centers.
    • Allen Bradley PLC control systems for process and equipment management, along with associated HMI graphics.
    • Large DC and AC motor drive control systems utilizing power electronics for variable speed management.
    • Fiber optic and Ethernet communication systems.
    • Power factor correction systems.
    • Electrical systems in heavy industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; experience with AutoCAD, MS Project, and CMMS systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC programming (PLC5, ControlLogix, MicroLogix, and DeviceNet) for troubleshooting purposes.
