Senior Financial Accountant

Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a growing non-profit in Washington D.C. to bring a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant with a strong background in audit and revenue recognition to join their finance team.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records while supporting the organization's revenue processes and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and categorized.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Generate detailed financial reports and analyses to provide insights into financial performance for management and stakeholders.
  • Analyze and review revenue transactions to ensure compliance with ASC 606 and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with sales and operational teams to ensure accurate revenue reporting and forecasting.
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Implement recommendations from audit findings to strengthen internal controls and financial processes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting and revenue processes to mitigate risk.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of processes to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
  • Support the team in resolving complex accounting issues and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights based on historical data and market trends.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual results, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices in accounting operations.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as finance, operations, and sales, to support financial initiatives and provide accounting expertise.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial goals and reporting requirements.
