Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Job Summary:

The Accounting Specialist is a key member of the accounting team at Heritage Family Credit Union. This role is responsible for processing general ledger entries, preparing financial statements, and performing various support functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the credit union's financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process general ledger entries, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
  • Enter and maintain vendor information in the AP system.
  • Review and process invoices and check requests.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned to support the accounting team.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in accounting or finance or related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in a credit union or financial institution.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn and operate software specific to the credit union's accounting systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
