Job Title: Supervisor, Materials

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Materials to oversee all inbound shipments, material movement, and storage/control of materials. This individual will be responsible for managing staff to meet all requirements through standard processes and process control, while adhering to division and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage material inventory and conduct spot checks as needed.
  • Establish continuous improvement processes to optimize resource utilization, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Implement visual management systems for materials, including Supermarkets, Kanbans, and standard work.
  • Create, train, and implement standard work and SOPs to improve processes, such as handler routes, waste reduction, and material control.
  • Apply best industry practices for safe merchandise handling to minimize damages and identify new programs to differentiate customers from the marketplace.
  • Implement safety and security procedures to ensure a safe working environment and maintain a clean, neat, and safe warehouse.
  • Regularly manage material needs in terms of space, material flow, and labor required.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to solicit customer and associate feedback for program improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, communicate, and analyze departmental key performance indicator metrics.
  • Consult with clients to understand distribution networks and determine logistics resources required.
  • Exercise management and coordination functions with various company functions, including purchasing, finance, and more.
  • Conceive, present, and implement cost, stock, and lead-time reduction projects.
  • Work with business development, field support, and customer service to handle complaints and ensure support plans are in place.
  • Analyze technology and distribution network trends and implement changes as appropriate.
  • Train and evaluate employees to enhance performance, development, and work product.
  • Address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Motivate and reward employees according to company guidelines.
  • Recommend operating and personnel budgets for approval.
  • Perform root cause analysis and problem resolution for all logistics operations.
  • Monitor the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
  • Identify and address supplier shipment stock anomalies.
  • Keep accurate records of all stock movements for proper inventory control, including daily cycle count programs.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or distribution environments.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Logistics.
  • Lean Manufacturing/continuous improvement experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation ability.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Ability to develop cross-functional relationships and interact effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Results-oriented, desire, and drive for continuous improvement.
