Position Overview:
This role is eligible for a High Demand Stipend. All adjunct and moonlighting faculty will receive an additional $6.00 per contact hour.
The Adjunct Phlebotomy Instructor plays a vital role in the Phlebotomy and Certified Medical Assistant programs, providing support in both clinical and laboratory environments, as well as in traditional and online educational settings.
The instructor is responsible for developing and coordinating clinical externships for students, actively seeking additional clinical sites to enhance program offerings.
Bates Technical College is committed to maintaining a pool of qualified candidates for this position, reaching out to suitable individuals as program needs arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize effective teaching methodologies and instructional resources to deliver engaging lectures and practical lab experiences, equipping students with essential skills for entry-level careers.
- Provide personalized instruction and mentorship to students, guiding them through program requirements, assignments, and career aspirations.
- Supervise and instruct students in both classroom and clinical settings, while developing and managing clinical externship opportunities.
- Encourage student feedback to continuously improve instructional methods and program effectiveness.
- Ensure a safe and conducive learning environment by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievements in accordance with institutional policies.
- Develop and uphold comprehensive curriculum documentation aligned with industry standards and practices.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and support staff to foster a cohesive educational experience.
- Participate in student recruitment efforts and support program accreditation initiatives.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a certification or degree in Phlebotomy, along with current State of Washington MA-P certification or eligibility. Candidates should possess teaching or training experience equivalent to ten weeks and two years of recent full-time experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Preferred qualifications include prior teaching experience in a college or clinical environment, supervisory experience in a clinical lab, and the ability to effectively engage with diverse student populations.
