Project Overview:
The project is based at a U.S. Army Garrison Hospital, situated in a picturesque atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. This facility is one of the largest outsourced medical centers supporting the Department of Defense. International SOS Government Medical Services has been entrusted with managing a critical access hospital and associated clinics, providing essential healthcare services to a diverse community.

Position Summary:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in administering anesthesia for both medical and dental surgical patients within the healthcare system. The primary responsibility includes the safe and effective administration, dosing, and monitoring of anesthetics to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The CRNA may also engage in emergency airway management and trauma stabilization as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including patient assessments and documentation.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for anesthetic administration, ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Select and prepare necessary equipment and medications for anesthesia delivery.
  • Administer post-anesthesia care and medications to support patient recovery.
  • Monitor and assess patient responses post-surgery, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and manage patient airways using various techniques.
  • Educate healthcare staff on anesthetic practices and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in quality management initiatives and safety drills.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the Quality/Risk Management team.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Master's degree in Nurse Anesthesia from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted U.S. state license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Proficient in anesthesia administration techniques, including epidurals and ultrasound-guided procedures.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DOD CNACI clearance.
  • Must be willing to relocate to the project site.
  • A valid passport is required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed in an office environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and standing, with occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
