Position Summary:
This role is crucial in supporting the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing various surgical procedures. Key responsibilities include conducting pre-anesthesia evaluations, developing anesthesia plans, delivering anesthesia, and monitoring patients throughout their surgical experience. Collaboration with the surgical team is essential, as is the maintenance and cleaning of anesthesia equipment.
Qualifications:
- Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic assessments, including physical examinations and patient interviews, documenting all findings.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures related to anesthesia administration and management.
- Possess a current, unrestricted license as a professional nurse in a US state or territory.
- Hold certification from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists, as required for employment.
- Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications, with a preference for American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program recognized by the appropriate accrediting bodies.
- Possess a DEA License.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Willingness to relocate for the duration of the contract.
- Ability to obtain VA Public Trust Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply professional nursing principles in patient care to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations, including collecting necessary data.
- Formulate and communicate anesthetic plans, outlining risks and benefits to patients.
- Administer various forms of anesthesia and continuously monitor patient status for adverse reactions.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, providing airway management and administering emergency medications.
- Stay updated on advancements in the field to enhance patient care practices.
- Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team to improve patient care services.
- Demonstrate proficiency in IV administration.
Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed in an office environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and standing, as well as occasional bending and lifting of up to 15 lbs.
