Job Title: Patient Access Coordinator

Scope of Position:

  • The Revenue Cycle at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center focuses on delivering exceptional customer service while efficiently and accurately handling patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Key areas within the Revenue Cycle include pre-registration, registration, pre-certification, financial clearance and counseling, financial assistance, scheduling, billing, claims follow-up, customer service, and cash collection.
  • The primary goal of staff within the Revenue Cycle is to ensure the collection of net revenue for services provided.

Position Summary:

  • The Patient Access Coordinator is a specialist in specific product, process, or service line areas such as physician appointment scheduling, OR/admission, full-service scheduling, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, and patient liability determination and communication.
  • Responsibilities include providing accurate and up-to-date information to consumers (clinical staff and patients), scheduling appointments, ensuring the accuracy of demographic and insurance information, providing support to physicians and consumers, and resolving customer problems efficiently.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be proficient in using various software packages, including Electronic Medical Record, scheduling and registration systems, ABN, eligibility, and document management software.
