Position Overview:

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a passionate Veterinary Emergency Response Technician to become a vital part of our Field Operations team. Work Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, including potential weekends and overtime

Key Responsibilities:

As a Veterinary Emergency Response Technician, you will:
  • Provide emergency rescue and medical assistance to animals facing illness, trauma, or abuse.
  • Collaborate with other emergency services to conduct complex animal rescues and cruelty investigations.
  • Perform medical stabilization and transport of distressed animals.
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and document the medical history of animals upon arrival.
  • Administer necessary treatments to injured or ill animals.
  • Engage in behavior assessments on-site, utilizing appropriate restraint techniques.
  • Prepare detailed reports for law enforcement and other relevant authorities.
  • Testify in court regarding animal welfare cases.
  • Ensure humane euthanasia of animals when necessary.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an EAMT assessment with a minimum passing score.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations involving sick or injured animals.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent public relations abilities.
  • Willingness to pass the EAMT training curriculum and physical agility assessments.

Work Environment:

This role requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work environment may involve exposure to animal noises, odors, and various conditions. Most tasks will be performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
