The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a passionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to become a vital part of our Marge Wright Veterinary Clinic. Key Responsibilities:
The Spay/Neuter Veterinary Technician will play a crucial role in our low-cost animal clinic, supporting veterinarians in various aspects of care for pets in our community. Responsibilities include:
- Preparation for surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
- Conducting laboratory diagnostics and ensuring proper handling and restraint of animals.
- Administering vaccinations and medications as prescribed.
- Providing client education on pet care and clinic procedures.
- Maintaining clinic cleanliness and aseptic techniques.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a veterinary technician program and certification preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, and pharmacology.
- Strong anesthesiology skills are essential.
- Commitment to spay/neuter initiatives with a positive attitude.
- Ability to provide exceptional patient care for up to 60 animals daily.
- Experience in administering injections and performing venipuncture.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical concepts, including vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks.
- Effective communication skills with clients and team members.
Work Environment:
This position requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees may encounter various environmental conditions, including exposure to animal noises, odors, and dander. Most work will occur in a climate-controlled office environment.
